Winding down? --Written on: Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 ~~ 11:35

Well, turns out that there may be nothing wrong with Jeff's car, though all evidence was to the contrary. We took it to the family mechanic (who thought maybe given the symptoms perhaps we might consider NOT driving it and since we felt lucky to even get it around the corner to get it home, we agreed. So we paid to have it towed...). After about half a day, the mechanic said that there was nothing he could do for it and that the transmission would have to be rebuilt because of a sticky valve or something that was messing with the amount of fuel getting into the engine (I think, I can't remember). Since he couldn't help, he didn't charge us, so that was the one break we got; oh but he also said it was safe to drive, just look out for stalling every time Jeff is in low gear. So back to Saturn we go, but not to the one where we just had our service done over the weekend. As luck would have it, we ended up dealing with the same dickhead service writer that was one of the reasons why we quit going to this Saturn dealership to begin with. He made sure to let us know how stupid it was go to someone who was not a Saturn-certified technician and since our first mechanic cleared the codes when he checked out the car, it might make things more difficult when they run their diagnostic... Oh, but they'd still be charging us $70 either way just for the diagnostic. Well, of course, Saturn didn't find anything wrong... And, of course, it's all our fault for trying to save a few bucks and going somewhere else first. So we'll see... There's a good chance that we're never going back to that Saturn now, for sure. And I'm sure the car will act up again, because it was quite a big thing on Monday and there IS indeed something wrong with it. So one more time, it'll happen, and the lights will come on again and we WON'T clear the code this time... Then if we take it to (another) Saturn and there's still "nothing" wrong with the damn thing, I think then we're going to look into trading it in. We went through this bullshit with Jeff's last car and once was enough.

And, today is the last day for my Gold Membership.

And, I'm getting a cold sore.

God dammit!
